Spending Time With Jesus

Psalm 84:10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked (NIV).

I have spent some years now making it a priority to spend time with Jesus. My Bible use to just sit and collect dust on my bookshelf. I don’t know where to even begin to talk about what God has done since I decided to open it up other than on church days, it is amazing! And now when I don't spend time with Him, I feel lost and long for time in the presence of God. I am so grateful for the relationship that I get to have with Jesus. It is a relationship that I don't want to take for granted, and a relationship that I want to nourish and grow.

I know life can be fast-paced and time seems limited - like there is not enough hours in the day. But being intentional about our relationship with Jesus is a really good thing in our life – “better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere” – is what this Psalmist writes. And once you do, you just want more of Him.

When I was actually reading this Psalm, it was as if God was saying, “Spend some extra time with me today.” My life has been busy lately that I have been going through the motions during some of my devotional times. He knows that if we would get away and spend some time with Him, our life would be forever changed by Him.

I hope that you are encouraged today to find yourself deeply immersed in God's Word and His presence this weekend.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for our time together. I long to be in Your presence and to have an intimate relationship with You. I pray our relationship will grow beyond what it is now. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
