Seeking Clear Direction

I have quite a few stories of God opening and closing doors in my life as I seek clear direction from Him in making decisions. Even when God closes a door, I have learned it’s only for my good. It’s something I have had to learn to trust Him with, because sometimes we get disappointed when things don’t necessarily go our way, or we try to pry the closed door open to only find we weren’t supposed to. Believe me that is frustrating. I’m always reminding myself, God has a better plan when a door is shut.

Paul and his companions tried to cross the border, but that door shut. It was a clear direction from the Holy Spirit not to go past the border.

Acts 16:6-7 Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to (NIV).

The Holy Spirit made it clear in this verse that wasn't where He wanted them to go. Actually if you continue reading, the Holy Spirit gave Paul exactly where He wanted him to go through a vision. God will give us clear direction in life when we seek Him. He will open and close doors. He makes our paths straight if we submit to Him (Proverbs 3:6). Seek Him for clear direction as you journey through life making decisions.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for making our paths straight. I pray that You would give me clear direction today. That You would keep me from walking through doors that don’t lead me on the right path. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
