A few weeks ago, we got so much rain. I looked out the window and said, “Lord, You dumped the rain today!” There was water everywhere – standing in the yard and in the streets. All the rain had me thinking about the goodness of God and how He is always doing more than what we ask for!
Out of the prayer Paul prayed in Ephesians 3:14-21, verse 20 says - Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us (NIV).
God is able to do more than all we ask or imagine. He won’t do “just” (exactly) what we ask, but "more" (beyond) what we ask! We cannot imagine it, because His ways and thoughts are different than ours (Isaiah 55:8). But it is always more than just love, more than just grace, more than just provisions, more than just fruit in our lives, more than just our vision, more than just wisdom, etc. It is more than we ask!
2 Kings 4 God provided the widow with more than enough oil to pay off the debt that was owed!
If He who is able to do more than all we ask or imagine, why don’t we place everything in our life in His hands and say, “I surrender this to You today.” And begin to rest under His wing. He is way better to us than we deserve. It’s much more than I can ask for!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that Your ways are not my ways and You are above us and allow us to come under your wing as a child of Yours. It is more than I can even ask or can even imagine! You are too good to us. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
