It’s There for the Taking, But You Got to Put in the Work

As I sit here and look at my garden and needing to finish planting, I can’t help but to think about what Joshua said to the tribes of Joseph in Joshua chapter 17.

The tribes of Joseph wanted more land because they were numerous and God had blessed them abundantly. They also had Canaanites living in their land, because they did not drive them out completely. So, their territory was not large enough for them.

Joshua then told them in Joshua 17:15 “If you are so numerous,” Joshua answered, “and if the hill country of Ephraim is too small for you, go up into the forest and clear land for yourselves there in the land of the Perizzites and Rephaites (NIV).”

The land was there and available for them to take and clear out to make room for more, they just had to do the work.

The people of Joseph also didn’t have confidence that they could drive out the Canaanites because they had chariots fitted with iron, but Joshua reassured them that they could drive them out even if they were strong and had chariots fitted with iron.

Sometimes we may be just sitting around waiting for God to do something when He has already given us something to work on, or we may not have the confidence that we can do it, but really we just have to take a step towards the goal. It will take some work planting my garden, but the reward in the end is an abundant of veggies. When we put in the work, we see a harvest!

Remember, God is with us as we walk in obedience to His will. He helps us as we work on it! If He asks you to write a book, He is going to help you write that book. But it takes the person He asks to write that book to pick up a pen and start writing. It is there for the taking, but you got to put in the work.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for providing for us in so many ways! Help me to be strong and put in the work so that I will see a harvest. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
