I think a lot – sometimes I think it is too much. I will go on think overload and it causes me to be anxious. So, this week I put on repeat all that has been troubling me, instead of stopping and saying, “Nope, I am not going to think and live in anxiety.” I began reading Jabez’ prayer. I thought to myself, “I am not defined by my troubles.”
Jabez’ name means pain. His mama named him pain, but that did not let Jabez define who he was and he did not put a limit on what God can do. He cried out to God this prayer in 1 Chronicles 4:10 - Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request (NIV).
Satan let me tell you something today, “I am not defined by my problems – pain is not my name. My name is child of God!”
We can let troubles define who we are and stay in repeat of all the things that are going wrong in our life or we can cry out to God like Jabez. Bless me Lord! Enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be on my life! Let me be free from pain! We don’t have to be defined by the troubles in our life and stay stuck in them. We have an almighty God who is able! I want to expand outside of that territory and into the territory that the Lord has for me - being a blessing to someone, serving, participating in the calling that God has on my life – whatever it may be that God has for me. Because He has a purpose for us all!
Your name is not anxiety!
Your name is not depression!
Your name is not pain!
You are not defined by your troubles!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I am a child of You! I pray that I am not defined by the troubles that I go through, and Your hand will be on my life wherever I go. I pray Jabez’ prayer today! In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
