Be Still

My husband sent me a picture of the clouds outside of his third-floor office window and said, “The clouds are not moving.” It reminded me of Moses and the Israelites traveling to get to the promised land. They had the cloud by day and the fire by night. When the cloud lifted, the Israelites began traveling and when it stopped, they stopped. Moses and the Israelites were not always in an ideal situation – how they thought it should be or wanted it to be. It was not always perfect, but they had to trust God on their journey that had them headed towards their home.

Some of us may be feeling like things are falling apart, worried, overthinking, fearful, pondering the what ifs until our hearts are beating out of our chest with anxiety. Without God, this is me. I rely 100 percent on God to help me through all of my worries, fears, overthinking and what ifs. God wants us to be still and know that He is God.

Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth (NIV).”

When you are feeling like this, lift your eyes to Him and take refuge in Him – an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Know that He is always with us - He will never leave you (Deuteronomy 31:8). He will provide for you – you don’t need to worry (Mathew 6:31-32). And have confidence that in the end you will see victory – Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33)! We can be still and know that He is God!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that we have You. I praise You Lord, because You are above us, watching over us, leading us, protecting us and providing for us. I do not have to be fearful with You. Help me to be still and know that You are God. Cover me with Your peace and comfort. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
