Rest

I think we all find ourselves exhausted from time to time. Jesus even had to get away and spend time with God. There are days I need to get into the presence of the Lord and seek rest. I hit the ground running as soon as my kids wake up in the morning, and we really do not stop until they are a sleep. Trying to continuously keep up without resting can become exhausting. It is with Jesus that we find complete rest.

David went into war against the Philistines and Scripture says he became exhausted (2 Samuel 21:15). David’s army was mighty, so they could easily fight battles without David. In that same way, God’s army is not weak by no means, we can give Him our burdens so that we can find rest.

This could be a busy season and you have not been able to rest. It is so important to find the time to rest. I have found that sometimes when God tells you to rest, the next day may be a very busy day. He had a reason for the resting. Take time to rest with Jesus - sitting with him, talking with Him and praying about it all. It is amazing how much rest you find by spending time with Jesus. Jesus said in Mathew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (NIV).

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me rest when I need it. I pray that I will find rest with You! In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
